## <mark style="color:$primary;">Getting started</mark>

<details>

<summary>How do I get <mark style="color:violet;"><strong>$USN</strong></mark><strong>?</strong></summary>

Users can buy <mark style="color:purple;">**$USN**</mark> on our website, which anyone can do without approval. **Institutions** can mint it directly with the protocol after onboarding.

See [How to buy <mark style="color:purple;">**$USN**</mark>](/getting-started/how-to-buy-noon-assets.md).

</details>

<details>

<summary>What's the difference between <mark style="color:violet;"><strong>$USN</strong></mark> and <mark style="color:violet;"><strong>$sUSN</strong></mark>?</summary>

<mark style="color:purple;">**$USN**</mark> is Noon’s stablecoin pegged 1:1 to USD; held on its own it doesn't earn yield but it earns the max amount of points. <mark style="color:purple;">**$sUSN**</mark> is staked <mark style="color:purple;">**$USN**</mark>, and it's the token that increases in value daily as it accrues the protocol's yield.

See [$USN and $sUSN.](/2.-usdusn-and-usdsusn/usdusn-or-usdsusn.md)

</details>

<details>

<summary>Do I need <mark style="color:violet;"><strong>$NOON</strong></mark> to earn yield?</summary>

No. <mark style="color:purple;">**$NOON**</mark> is the governance token. Yield comes from holding <mark style="color:purple;">**$sUSN**</mark>. <mark style="color:purple;">**$NOON**</mark> is for participating in governance (and earning <mark style="color:purple;">**$NOON**</mark> rewards).

</details>

## Mint and redeem

<details>

<summary>Who can mint <mark style="color:violet;"><strong>$USN</strong></mark>?</summary>

Mint is permissioned and requires KYB onboarding. This is limited to Noon's institutional partners.

See [Mint and Redeem](/2.-usdusn-and-usdsusn/mint-and-redeem.md).

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I redeem <mark style="color:violet;"><strong>$USN</strong></mark>?</summary>

Redeem is also permissioned, with limits and a settlement timeline.

The full process, including any minimums and timing, is on [Mint and Redeem](/2.-usdusn-and-usdsusn/mint-and-redeem.md).

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I always sell <mark style="color:violet;"><strong>$USN</strong></mark>?</summary>

<mark style="color:purple;">**$USN**</mark> is designed to maintain its peg, and liquidity exists on decentralised exchanges. Like any market-traded asset, the price you receive depends on available liquidity at the time.

This is different from a guarantee to redeem at par on demand.

</details>

## Stake

<details>

<summary>How does <mark style="color:violet;"><strong>$USN</strong></mark> staking work?</summary>

Using the "Stake" page of the Noon App, users can stake their <mark style="color:purple;">**$USN**</mark> to receive <mark style="color:purple;">**$sUSN**</mark>. The price of <mark style="color:purple;">**$sUSN**</mark> appreciates daily, as per the protocol's returns. To unstake, users can use the "Unstake" page of the Noon App, which unstakes <mark style="color:purple;">**$sUSN**</mark> to <mark style="color:purple;">**$USN**</mark>, subject to a standard cooldown.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What is the cooldown when I unstake <mark style="color:violet;"><strong>$USN</strong></mark>?</summary>

7 days.

See [Fees](/2.-usdusn-and-usdsusn/fees.md) for cooldowns and any associated charges.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What happens if I unstake <mark style="color:violet;"><strong>$NOON</strong></mark> early?</summary>

Users can stake <mark style="color:purple;">**$NOON**</mark> through Active Stake or Open Stake. Early unstaking forfeits some or all of the users' unvested reward tokens (varies between Active and Open Stake), according to the vesting curve.
