Mechanics: Open Stake

Permissionless Staking, Compounding Rollovers, and Shared Governance.

Open Stake allows any $NOON holder, whether tokens were bought on secondary markets, received via distributions, or unlocked from previous staking cycles, to participate fully in protocol yield and governance.

TL;DR

  • Open Accessibility: Any $NOON token can enter Open Stake.

  • Monthly Queue: Stake requests placed during the month activate on the 1st of the following month.

  • Compounding Pool: The Open Stake reward pool grows continuously through rule-based rollovers from forfeited and unvested tokens across the protocol.

  • Full Reward Vesting at 12 Months: Staking for 12+ months vests 100% of allocated pool rewards.

  • Strict Early Exit Rule: Unstaking early forfeits 100% of accrued rewards (principal $NOON is returned in full); forfeited rewards roll into the next month's pool.

  • Voting Power: Calculated from initial staked $NOON across the 48-month voting curve.

1. The Rollover-Boosted Reward Engine

Unlike Active Stake (which allocates based on ASP), Open Stake rewards users based on their pro-rata share of the Fixed Monthly Open Stake Pool.

This pool expands continuously through four programmatic rollover streams:

2. Two-Step Staking Execution Flow

  1. Step 1 - Stake Request Submission: Submit a stake request in the Noon App selecting your target $NOON quantity and lock duration. You can modify or cancel this request at any time prior to month-end.

  2. Step 2 - Monthly Activation: On the 1st day of the next month, your stake activates, entering the fixed pool calculation and beginning reward accrual.

3. Early Exit Penalty

Open Stake enforces a strict, non-dilutive exit rule:

The Open Stake Exit Rule: If an Open Stake position is unstaked prior to completing the selected duration, 100% of accrued rewards are forfeited. Your initial staked $NOON principal is returned to your wallet in full, while all forfeited rewards roll directly into the next month's Open Stake pool.

This mechanic protects long-term holders by ensuring that mercenary capital cannot farm short-term yields without completing their committed lockup.

4. Open Stake Voting Power

Voting power under Open Stake is calculated using your initial staked $NOON principal multiplied by the 48-month voting curve:

  • Initial Lock Scaling: A 48-month Open Stake commitment immediately grants 100% voting power weighting on your principal.

  • Early Exit Reset: Unstaking an Open Stake position early immediately resets voting power to zero.
