# Mechanics: Active Stake

Earn, Vest, and Govern Through Ecosystem Participation.

Active Staking is the primary vehicle for distributing <mark style="color:violet;">**$NOON**</mark> to <mark style="color:violet;">**$USN**</mark> and <mark style="color:violet;">**$sUSN**</mark> users. It bridges everyday protocol usage with long-term governance equity and rewards.

## <mark style="color:$primary;">TL;DR</mark>

* **Eligibility:** Hold <mark style="color:violet;">**$USN**</mark>, <mark style="color:violet;">**$sUSN**</mark>, or deploy into approved partner protocols.
* **Point Accrual:** Earn Active Stake Points (ASP) daily, which convert into a monthly <mark style="color:violet;">**$NOON**</mark> token allocation at month-end.
* **Claim vs. Stake Options:** Claim 10% of your <mark style="color:violet;">**$NOON**</mark> rewards immediately, or stake for up to 12+ months to unlock 100% of your <mark style="color:violet;">**$NOON**</mark> rewards.
* **Zero Token Burns:** Reward tokens that do not vest, or are forfeited early, are never burned. 100% are rolled into the following month's Open Stake reward pool.
* **Voting Power:** Scales over a 48-month curve based on vested <mark style="color:violet;">**$NOON**</mark>, reaching 100% voting weight at 4 years.

## <mark style="color:$primary;">1. Active Stake Points (ASP) Accrual</mark>

Active Stake operates on recurring 30-day cycles:

1. **Daily Tracking:** Holding <mark style="color:violet;">**$USN**</mark> / <mark style="color:violet;">**$sUSN**</mark> or supplying partner pools generates Active Stake Points (ASP) daily in the <mark style="color:purple;">**Noon**</mark> App.
2. **Multipliers & Partners:** ASP generation can be boosted by participating in partner campaigns or holding specific ecosystem badges.
3. **Month-End Conversion:** At the end of each month, your ASP balance relative to total global ASP determines your exact share of the monthly <mark style="color:violet;">**$NOON**</mark> allocation pool:

Once your monthly <mark style="color:violet;">**$NOON**</mark> allocation is determined, you choose how much to claim or stake:

## <mark style="color:$primary;">3. Early Unstaking Mechanics</mark>

If you unstake an Active Stake position before completing your selected duration, your rewards default to the last fully completed milestone:

> <mark style="color:$warning;">**Example:**</mark> A user commits to a 12-month stake (100% target). After 7 months, they execute an early unstake. The position settles at the 6-month milestone (38.3%). The user receives 38.3% of their <mark style="color:violet;">**$NOON**</mark> allocation, while the remaining 61.7% is rolled directly into the next month's Open Stake pool.

## <mark style="color:$primary;">4. Voting Power Mechanics (The 48-Month Curve)</mark>

Voting power under Active Stake is calculated based on your vested <mark style="color:violet;">**$NOON**</mark> multiplied by an extended 48-month commitment curve:

* **Governance Leverage:** A 4-year staker possesses nearly 6x the voting weight of a 12-month staker holding the same number of tokens.
* **Early Unstake Penalty:** If an Active Stake position is unstaked early, its associated voting power drops to zero.
