# Vault vs $sUSN

Noon gives you two ways to earn regular returns. Which one fits depends on what you want to hold.

## <mark style="color:violet;">**$sUSN**</mark>

<mark style="color:violet;">**$sUSN**</mark> is the simple option. You can buy <mark style="color:violet;">**$USN**</mark> and stake it, or you buy <mark style="color:violet;">**$sUSN**</mark> directly and hold it. Your balance stays in dollars and the yield accrues in the redemption rate. Nothing to manage.

This is the right choice if you want stable, dollar denominated exposure and a straightforward path in and out.

## <mark style="color:$primary;">**Vaults**</mark>

[**Vaults**](/1.-noon-the-basics/vaults.md) are for people who want more. There are two kinds.

**Stablecoin vaults** take dollar deposits and run strategies that target higher yields than staking alone. Same dollar exposure, more yield.

**Asset vaults** let you keep exposure to the asset you already own. Deposit **$BTC** into a **$BTC** vault and you keep your **$BTC** exposure while it earns. You do not have to sell anything to start earning.

## <mark style="color:$primary;">**Choosing**</mark>

Hold <mark style="color:violet;">**$sUSN**</mark> if you want dollars and simplicity.

Use a stablecoin vault if you want dollars and are looking for higher yields.

Use an asset vault if you want to keep exposure to an asset you already hold (e.g. $BTC), and earn returns on top of it

You can use both. Many holders keep a core <mark style="color:violet;">**$sUSN**</mark> position and put the rest to work in vaults.
